Growing up in Bozeman, Montana, Matt experienced the transforming power of the gospel on the football field of Montana State University. Though he was pursuing a career in civil engineering, the Lord brought him to saving faith and began to give him a passion for people to follow Jesus. From that point forward, Matt served in various ministry capacities. He was ordained as the Pastor of College Ministries at Grace Bible Church near the end of 2015. In 2020, the Thibault family transitioned to Grace Church of the Valley in the Central Valley of California to serve as the Discipleship Pastor. In 2022, the Lord called the Thibaults to plant a church in San Diego, first moving to Phoenix, AZ, to be trained by Vintage Mission at Christ Church in Phoenix. Then, in June 2022, they moved to San Diego to establish a new gospel outpost, Doxa Church. Since then, God has moved in power to establish this church as a people committed to the mission of making disciples for the glory of God.

Along the way, Matt earned a Masters in Divinity from the Master’s Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has taught as an adjunct professor at a number of Christian higher education institutions.

Beyond these, Matt loves his wife Trina and loves to spend time with her. Together, they cherish their three kids: Adelyn, James, and Alivia. As a family, they love to explore the trails and beaches of San Diego, visit the zoo and SeaWorld, and have in-home pizza and movie night at the Thibault house.
